New Horizons Youth Drop In Centre

The Lac La Biche Canadian Native Friendship Centre’s New Horizons Youth Centre ultimate goal is to increase the leadership/mentorship capacity of local youth, to prevent substance abuse, violence, criminal activity and truancy.  Programs are designed to enhance aboriginal academic achievement, career development and post secondary opportunities.  The delivery of lifeskills, healthy choices, cultural, personal and leadership development as well as the opportunity for community involvement will empower youth to work closely with existing services in exploring all their capabilities.

Goals

To provide a safe, welcoming, positive environment for youth ages 10-29 years old, in Lac La Biche and surrounding area, regardless of culture, status or background.

To engage youth in planning of and participation in programming aimed at the acquisition of life skills, self esteem building, access to aboriginal culture and development of a sense of community.
